FNLite salts lend themselves to histodifferentiation of soybean cultures in liquid medium. The photo on the left contains 10 embryogenic clusters after 3 weeks on MSM6AC medium. The embryos are at a torpedo stage of development. The plate on the right contains embryos from just 1 embryogenic cluster. After 5 weeks, they are mature enough for desiccation. Using this medium, it is possible to obtain approximately 16x more embryos per mg of embryogenic tissue. Embryos from this medium are larger, and more closely resemble zygotic embryos in terms of their oil and protein content and composition.
